Youm Farmenas[1] ｢ヨウム・ファルメナス, yōmu farumenasu｣ is a Human known as the Rising Hero-King Farmenas[1] of the Kingdom of Farmenas. He used to be known as the wandering Hero Youm.[2][3] Youm is secretly a vassal of Demon Lord Rimuru Tempest.
Appearance[]
Youm has a well-toned physique, bronzed by the sun. He stands at an average height, neither tall nor short. His demeanor suggests that he is always vigilant and alert. Far from being unattractive, he possesses a rather handsome face. Following his ascension as both a Hero and a king, he now carries himself with a dignified and regal air.
Personality[]
Before meeting Rimuru, Youm exuded the aura of a natural leader among outlaws, yet hidden beneath his exterior was a heart of gold. However, after encountering Rimuru and earning the title of Hero, this dynamic undergoes a transformation. He emerges as a heroic figure to the world, while inwardly he still maintains his preference for a more casual approach. Despite his reluctance, Youm embraces his role as a husband with pride, doting on his wife, and revels in the joy of being a devoted and indulgent father. Although he may not perceive himself as a kingly figure, he instinctively carries out his responsibilities and duties, embodying the essence of a true leader.
Youm's personality shines through his unwavering loyalty and steadfastness, always standing up for what he believes is right. He possesses a strong sense of justice and empathy, willing to go to great lengths to protect those he cares about. While he may possess great strength and prowess, his humility remains intact, never seeking recognition or accolades. Despite his notable achievements, Youm cherishes his connections and friendships, valuing genuine bonds over superficial titles or status.
Additionally, Youm's casual demeanor and down-to-earth nature make him approachable and relatable to others. He has a charming and infectious smile, capable of lifting the spirits of those around him. Despite the weight of his responsibilities, he possesses a lightheartedness and a penchant for finding joy in the simple pleasures of life.
Background[]
Youm's life took a dramatic turn when he found himself imprisoned within Count Nidol Migam's Territory in the Kingdom of Falmuth. However, his fortunes changed when the Count assigned him a crucial mission; to lead the newly formed Frontier Expedition Force, a group of 30 skilled individuals, to scout the movements of the Orc Lord within the Great Jura Forest. While Rommel was tasked with overseeing Youm's group and reporting their demise back to the Count, Youm cleverly utilized his wit and charisma to intimidate Rommel and convince him to dissolve the contract magic binding Youm and most of his comrades. Remarkably, he even managed to win Rommel's unwavering loyalty and commitment to their shared cause.[2]
As Youm and his expedition force ventured deeper into the Jura Forest, they stumbled upon the extraordinary town of Tempest, where they encountered the enigmatic Rimuru Tempest. Rimuru, desiring to elevate the reputation of his monster-inhabited town, sought someone to take credit for vanquishing the Orc Lord. Recognizing Youm's potential, Rimuru nominated him as a candidate for this pivotal role. Initially hesitant, Youm's doubts dissolved as he interacted with the warm-hearted residents and witnessed firsthand the harmonious community of diverse creatures that comprised Rimuru's town. Enthralled by the prospect of reshaping his destiny, Youm wholeheartedly embraced Rimuru's plan to become a Hero, and from that fateful day onward, his life would be forever altered.
