Octagram ｢八星魔王, okutaguramu｣ is the forty-eighth episode of the anime adaptation That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime and the twenty-fourth and final episode of the second season.
Synopsis[]
Rimuru confronts the awakened Clayman. In order to put an end to the long-lasting feud with Clayman, and to become the Demon Lord in both name and reality, they face the final battle.[1]
Summary[]
Crazed and half awakened as a True demon lord, Clayman plans to kill Rimuru to keep his title. However, Rimuru simply pummels and eats Clayman instead; learning that the Moderate Harlequin Alliance works for former Demon Lord Kazalim, whose body Leon killed to take his spot. Before Clayman's death, the latter regrets not listening to Laplace in the first place. Thanks to Veldora and Milim's blunder, Roy Valentin (who is doubtful of accepting Rimuru as a Demon Lord) is revealed to be a stand-in for true Demon Lord Luminous Valentine, who is the maid Rimuru had suspicions about earlier. She is forced to drop her disguise and send Roy back to the Holy Empire, while also expressing anger at Veldora for blowing her cover. Carrion and Frey give up their seats as Demon Lords upon seeing they are too weak; while still ruling their lands, they now work for Milim, to her dismay. As the group is down to eight members, Veldora suggests Rimuru pick their new name. After having doubts, Rimuru sees stars above the meeting and decides to call them the Eight Star Demons Lords — Octagram. In the Holy Empire, Laplace is chased off by Hinata; having believed the Demon Lord's absence meant a lack of security. Roy returns early from Walpurgis as Luminous felt unease, confronting him. Laplace learns that Clayman was killed and after a fight, he promptly tears out Roy's heart after hearing his dear friend insulted. Now seeing that Yuuki's plan to stop Rimuru has ended in failure, the anguished clown can only laugh hysterically as he crushes the heart, killing Roy.
