The Eastern Empire, officially known as the Nasca Namrium Ulmeria United Eastern Empire, is a large military nation that is known as the strongest nation in the entire world.
The history of the Empire was said to be ancient, and that its foundations were laid out by a nation as far back as two thousand years ago. The long-standing minor Kingdom of Nasca gradually absorbed the large nations of the Magic Kingdom of Namrium and the Eastern Union of Ulmeria, thus giving birth to the Empire known today.
Its overwhelming military power was its backbone. During the past two thousand years, under the reign of the uniting emperor Rudra Nam Ul Nasca, the Empire grew immensely powerful, quashing any signs of rebellion from the nations they had absorbed. It acted as the hegemonic power, dominating these states.
The emperor was described as an absolutist, and was born from a pure bloodline of overlords who all passed down the name Rudra.
It's believed that the only reason the empire had yet to invade the Jura forest, is because they are in the middle of preparations. A few centuries ago, they attempted to subjugate Veldora, but the whimsical dragon destroyed them before they could so much as show regret. Around a hundred thousand lives were lost that day, and the city fortified to be the gateway for invading the Jura forest, was obliterated. Their failure pained them for hundreds of years.
Politics & Principles
Within the Empire, the political department and the military department were the left and right hands of the emperor—he had both political dominance and military command, holding absolute authority.
This also applied to the nations that had been annexed by the Empire. All of their territories were claimed, and their land now became the property of the emperor. So were the defense troops deployed there, where they were considered as a generous gift from the emperor. If one of them rejected those terms and launched a rebellion, they would be met with a bloody purge. The Empire did this to deter even the thought of insurrection, cutting off the very roots of rebellion.
In that manner, the Empire managed to maintain order. On the one hand, the fear of their tyranny, and on the other, ensuring the livelihoods of its loyal subjects—the quintessential carrot and stick policy. Through this, the Empire managed to maintain peace and prosperity with its complete authoritarian control.
This policy was effective in completely eliminating any form of rebellion in the provinces. The overwhelming difference in national power was the key to its success.
Within the political department, the nobles within the Empire were organized into the House of Peers and enjoyed extraordinary authority. Yet it was merely superficial: in reality, these nobles had no actual decision-making power. They merely enjoyed the honor and privilege, while staying beholden to the emperor’s will. At most, they were just bureaucrats.
The power of the nobles was hereditary, and they could become senators without being elected. Even if they were extremely ambitious, they would never have enough power to achieve their dream. All of the territories of the Empire belonged to the emperor. The nobles were merely leased the land for temporary management.
The ones supporting the nobles were highly-educated officials. It was these officials who handled all the planning. They were directly supported by the emperor, since these officials had all sworn allegiance to him.
The Empire pride themselves for having the most powerful military in the world, consist of four major divisions: the Armored Corps, the Magic Beast Corps, the Mixed Corps and the Royal Guards. The total number of their military personnel exceeded 2.1 million, far greater than all forces in the west combined. This overwhelming military is the backbone of their unshakeable rule.
The supreme decision-making power of the military did not belong to the nation, but the emperor. The highest ranking officer within the military is the marshal, followed by the three generals commanding three major corps. These generals were selected after discussions held within the marshal, the emperor, and Imperial Court Magician Gadra.
Officially, the Empire does not recognize any other foreign nations, and would launch invasions without officially declaring war. The Empire would only accept one condition during negotiations: complete and unconditional surrender. In other words, invaded countries could choose to submit to the Empire, but it was equivalent of forfeiting all their rights.
The Eastern Empire sees the Jura Tempest Federation as an opportunity to invade other countries, as Jura Tempest Federation is considered by the empire as the first nation to be invaded due to Jura Tempest Federation harboring both monsters and humans. After realizing the empire's plan through the information provided by Souei, Rimuru vowed to end the attempted invasion of the Eastern Empire.
Due to the Eastern Empire's expansionist agenda, as well as knowledge of Luminous' true status as Ruberios' hidden ruler and her seat on the Octagram under Guy Crimson, the two have mutually hostile relationship.
Wanting to remove Guy's power base, the Eastern Empire has placed Ruberios as their primary target for invasion once they cross the Jura Forest, even sending in advance scouts disguised as merchants to spy on the Western Holy Church in anticipation to their eventual invasion.
Ruberios in turn, is aware of them being targeted, and have built up their defenses against the Eastern Empire's invasion.
