Mezul originally wished to form an alliance with Rimuru as the Mezu's representative, in order to massacre the Gozu, the the sworn enemy of the Mezu for the last 100 years. Rimuru, annoyed by their constant warring, made them submit to him and immediately placed Mezul inside the labyrinth as a boss unit alongside Gozul.
