Maze Mist霧の迷路メイズミスト, meizu misuto is a magical spell cast by Kagali to protect Amrita against intruders.

Abilities[]

Maze Mist is a complex and powerful defense system with numerous different effects to confuse and trap any and all intruders, all while being powered by the magicules in its surroundings, requiring little to no maintenance from the caster. First, the mist itself blocks off the vision of any intruders while also interfering with skills such as Mana Perception and Thought Communication. This forces them to rely on their innate senses to navigate while also reducing visibility to almost nothing. Even most ocular abilities, like Observing Eye and Heavenly Eye, seem to offer no clarity in the mist;[1] the only known exception is the all-seeing Milim Eye.[2] Even the act of casting magic is made all the more difficult by the magicule disruption.[3]

The second effect held by the mist is that of spatial interference. This effect twists space and causes all intruders to end up in the same location no matter where they entered the mist or what direction they walked, funneling them into any manner of other trap prepared by the caster. Even if they fail to perish in the trap prepared for them, they'll remain trapped in the maze-like mist as long as the core of the spell remains intact.[1]

In the case of Amrita, the core of the spell was that of Adalmann — a Wight king as powerful as a demon lord and wielding an army of undead — which incorporated the trap into the spell itself while also making it impossible to dispel unless he was defeated. This combination turned an already formidable spell into a near absolute death trap with terrifying performance.[1]

Since the spell affects all intruders without discriminating between friend or foe, a special rune is required to be held in order for a person to pass through the mist without being effected by it. In the case of Amrita's defense system, this took the form of a pendant. However, beings of a particularly high level, like the Primordials and demon lord Milim Nava, seem wholly immune to the spell's effect.[3][2]
