Mark Lauren 「マーク・ローレン, māku rōren」 is an American Otherworlder and a disciple of Gadra. He defected to Tempest from the Eastern Empire and currently acts as Ramiris' assistant.
Appearance[]
He has a large, sturdy build, and brown hair. With his fine, chiseled features, he has a considerably good appearance. He doesn't wear heavy equipment like iron armor, instead, he wears a tank top and jeans.
Personality[]
He has a short temper. He also dislikes the lavish lifestyle his superiors get to live to the point it gets him very angry. This is due to Mark's jealousy at being forced to live the life of an army dog, not being able to afford any of the luxuries of a higher-ranked officer. He's seemingly not in the habit of keeping up to date on the latest information, as he wasn't aware that the Ten Great Demon Lords reorganized and became the Octagram, to which Gadra severely reprimanded him for, criticizing his lack of diligence.
Background[]
He was a first lieutenant in the Eastern Empire's army. Like Shinji and Shin, he's an otherworlder. He used to be an avid gamer as he was very familiar with the labyrinth's dungeon-like mechanics. He was one of the three people sent by Yuuki Kagurazaka and Gadra to investigate the Dungeon. After his first few days in Tempest, he requested asylum along with Shinji and Shin, which they were granted. They now work as Ramiris' assistants in the labyrinth.
Story[]
Shinji, Shin, and Mark were ordered to do a full sweep of the Dungeon by Gadra and Yuuki to confirm rumors of a research laboratory at the bottom. Mark uses his abilities to defeat a great number of monsters and eventually picks up a battle axe, which to his surprise, turned out to be a Unique weapon. After seeing its effects in battle, he expresses his joy at finding such a high quality weapon, growing strongly fond of it. They were able to advance further than any team officially has, however, after coming to Rimuru's attention, they were easily exposed as spies. Instead of capturing them, Rimuru opted to observe them deeming it an opportunity to identify areas the Dungeon could improve upon (and to a lesser extent) he found watching them to be entertaining. After reaching the 60th floor guarded by Adalmann, they were swiftly defeated by Albert. After exiting the Dungeon, they reflected on their stay in the country and collectively agreed it was a nice place to live and that it has a lot of the luxuries that they miss from their home world.
Gadra contacted them and they all seeked an audience with Rimuru after which they defected to Tempest. They took up post as researchers for Ramiris in the Dungeon.
