The Magic Beast Division ｢魔獣軍団, majū gundan｣, commanded by Gradim, was the successful product of biotechnology. Utilizing DNA analysis (technology from another world), it became possible to nurture and raise Magic beasts called Battle chimeras, turning them into powerful beast knights. Moreover, their riders were carefully selected warriors with powers of ancient champions (analyzed with DNA technology) awakened within them. This is a rare quality available only in 1 out of 100,000 people. At least, that is what the public believes. In reality, they were a set of artificial champions, crafted in a lab by a combination of Magic and otherworld knowledge.
Each of the beast knights was ranked A and above by itself, and the combined strength of magic beast and riders was impossible to gauge. Despite having only 30,000 members, it was one of the most elite units the Empire had to offer.
After Gradim gave the order to activate The Beast, there were only about 4,100 successes without side-effects and 400 complete successes, which was still more than Gradim expected, since only 1% (about 300) of his Division was expected to succeed completely. The Magic Beast Division was then annihilated by the Black Numbers.
