Hazy Style

The Hazy Style ｢朧流｢おぼろりゅう｣, obororyū｣, also known as the Hazy Lifestream Style ｢朧心命流｢おぼろしんめいりゅう｣, oboroshinmeiryū｣, is a family of sword arts intermingled with aura-centric techniques and designed to fight Specters and Monsters.

This is the sword style used by most of the main characters in the series including Rimuru Tempest, Hakurou, and Benimaru.

Background[]

The style — originally known only as the Hazy Lifestream Style — was created by Byakuya Araki around 400 years ago alongside his brother as a measure to counteract monsters and evil spirits. While in combat with said monsters, Byakuya and his entire platoon ended up being transported to another world, where they took refuge in a village of Ogres that took them in. As the Samurai and Ogres began to intermingle, their knowledge naturally began to spread to the entire village, with Byakuya personally instructing them all in the Hazy Lifestream Style which he renamed to the Hazy Style. His grandson in particular was a natural talent who was able to properly inherit the inner mysteries of the Hazy Style and pass it on to future generations.

Back in Byakuya's homeworld, the Hazy Lifestream Style was carried on by Byakuya's brother, who founded a formal school in service to the Emperor. It remained pure and very close to the original style developed by Byakuya from generation to generation. Byakuya's brother's descendant, Gensei Araki, eventually became the head of the school and specially instructed 3 individuals of immense talent personally; those being Tatsuya Kondou, Masahiko Amari, and Saburo Minamoto.

Naming Variations[]

Haze ｢朧｢おぼろ｣, oboro｣ is commonly added before the name of a technique, however Haze Black Flame ｢朧黒炎｢おぼろこくえん｣, oboro kokuen｣ is added before Benimaru's version of Hundred Petals Rush and Imaginary Collapse Haze ｢虚崩朧｢こほうろう｣, kohōrō｣ is added before Rimuru and Ciel's Myriad Variety Petals. The reasons for the change in naming are not mentioned.
