Factor ｢因子, inshi｣, sometimes referred to as Essence ｢因子, ekisu, lit. "Extract"｣, is a type of information or substance within all living beings both physical and spiritual in nature. It determines or rather is the distinct characteristics that distinguish certain species, subspecies, and so on. It serves a similar or complementary role to DNA, albeit usually more mystical in nature than chemical.
For Spiritual life-forms who can have completely unique powers and appearances to suit their will, this is often the only way to distinguish their origin and separate them into distinct "species." It also serves a vital function in the birth of monsters, as without the presence of some kind of factor, a monster is unlikely to ever be born no matter how high the magicule concentration is.[1]
Known Types of Factor[]
- Beast Factor ｢獣の因子, jū no inshi｣:[2] A factor originating from the Magic beasts and is present in those Beasts and those who share their blood like most beastfolk species.
- Dragon Factor ｢竜の因子, ryū no inshi｣: A factor originating from the True Dragons. It was spread all over the world and eventually resulted in the birth of various races such as Archdragons and Dragonewts when the Chaos Dragon was born.[3] Its most common features include scales, wings, and breath attacks.
- Oni Factor ｢鬼の因子, oni no inshi｣: A factor originating from the enki and is present in the likes of kijin, ogres, and goblins.[4] Its more common features include things such as sharp fang-like teeth, short pointed ears, and horns.
