A Disturbance in the Royal Capital王都騒乱, ōto sōran is the nineteenth light novel volume of the That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime series. The initial release date for this volume, which was October 19, 2021, was pushed back to the 30th of November due to the illustrator, Mitz Vah, being sick with Ménière's disease.[1]

Synopsis[]

Rimuru and his forces fight heroically on all fronts to stop Michael's plan…only to lose the demon lord Leon to Feldway's schemes. Michael's next target is Masayuki the Hero, who possesses the soul of Rudra, Michael's former host. There to meet him in battle are the paladin Hinata, the Primordial Daemon Blanc, and Velgrynd the Scorch Dragon. Afterword[]

Everyone, long time no see.

This time, for the first time, I was granted a one-month extension on my deadline. From the moment I started writing, I thought it was going to be tough, but it turned out to be impossible. As I reorganized the content towards the conclusion, various developments came to mind. The impact of choosing which to adopt was so significant that I couldn't start writing. Of course, I also had other work, and my inability to switch my focus effectively was another reason. Unlike before, I feel like my brain isn't working as well, and I wonder if it's due to aging.
When I shared this with my editor, Mr. I, he kindly encouraged me by saying, "Stop making excuses and just write quickly."

I don't get it.

Since I was told that the schedule for the next volume absolutely won't be changed, I plan to start working on the next volume as soon as I finish writing this afterword.
Oops, I still have some revision work left.
Proofreaders are amazing. They not only catch inconsistencies in this volume but also find mistakes throughout the entire series. However, with the number of volumes increasing, it seems like small inconsistencies accumulate…It would be easy if it were just typos or rewriting sentences to make them clearer.
In my case, I start writing with only a rough plot, so most of the confirmations are done in my head. I realized that this approach only works for a small number of volumes, and decided to refine the plot thoroughly before starting to write in the future.

So, here's the delivery of the nineteenth volume. The final great war has erupted, and factions are glaring at each other everywhere. I couldn't cover everything in this volume, so of course, it continues into the next. With three volumes remaining (planned), I intend to sprint through just like this!
Michael, who was a candidate for the final boss, has exited, so who will be the final boss now? I have a vague idea in my head, but whether it will be adopted depends on what happens next. It's common for the direction to change while writing. I will continue to strive and think about the story so that readers can enjoy it even more!

Please continue to support "That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime." See you in the next volume!
