Can't we say that Rimuru is already a Demon Lord? Cause he practically ate the Orc Lord that is classified as a Demon Lord in Season 1 right. Anyone got views on this?
After watching the show for the third time, showing it to my little brother for the first time, he posed the question that put me for a spin. "Just how powerful is Benimaru's Black Ogre Flame?"
To solve this, I when the Death Battle route of using visual analysis and bomb-scale energy equations to determine the total Joule output of one blast.
By taking G.I. Taylor's atomic bomb yield equation
> r = (p^x)(E^y)(t^z)
And re-configuring it to solve for energy.
> ( r / [ (p^x)(t^z) ] )^(1/z)= E
Using the pre-determined, verified fractional exponents for x, y, and z, all I have left is to slap in p, r, and t.
'p' is simply the average air density. A quick google search pulls up 1.225 kg/m^3 at sea level. Considering the battle I'm using for reference takes place in wetlands, I'd say that cuts down error.
't' is the next to solve. In episode 16 "The one who devours all" we can see that Benimaru's explosion takes almost exactly 1 second to expand as it engulfs the Demon Lord Geld in the climax of the fight.
Finally, the hard part. To solve for 'r', I went and got reference images from the anime. There are two frames were you can see the remains of the Ogre Flame fading, we can use that to draw a full circle. In a close frame, Ranga's lightning forces Geld upright, giving us a perfect outline of Geld to act as a reference to determine the explosion radius.
Sadly, this wiki does not have a cannon height of the Demon Lord Geld, the Orc Disaster. So, being the over-annalist that I am, I found a frame of Shion and Geld standing side-by-side. Shion has a cannon height of 170cm. Using some fancy-ass measurements (Shion being 359.26px vs Geld being 990.38px) I found Geld to be 468.64cm.
Using a composite of the images showing Geld in the explosion, I measured Geld at 725px and the radius of 1006px. This means the radius of the explosion was 650.28cm. Finally, we've solved for 'r'.
Back to the original equation. We put in all the numbers
r = 6.5 m
p = 1.225 kg/m^3
t = 1 sec
> ( 6.5 / [ (1.225^-0.2)(1^0.4) ] )^(1/0.2)= E
Finally, the total energy released by the smallest blast of Black Ogre Flame we see is 14,213.56 Joules!!
